When you think of pageants, what naturally comes to your mind? High heels, bathing suits, and shallow platitudes, maybe? Most people in America have been exposed to pageant life in some way or another, whether it’s by turning the TV on to TLC’s “Toddlers in Tiaras” or by knowing someone personally involved in it. Inevitably, this causes preconceived, and often inaccurate, notions of what pageant life is like that impact our opinions of pageants and the people involved in them.
