Combs-Tidwell Wedding
Brittany Michelle Combs, daughter of John Combs Jr. of Brighton, TN and Bonnie (Randy) Woodard of Rosemark, TN joined Jonathon Matthew Tidwell, son of Jonathan Tidwell of Dickson, TN and Michelle (Charlie) Brown of Henning, TN, in holy matrimony on September 15th, 2018. Pastor Greg Temke presided over the outdoor ceremony at Farm to Table in Rosemark, Tennessee. The Combs-Tidwell wedding was the first wedding Farm to Table hosted.
Bridesmaids were Heather Pool, Shelby Simmons, and Rebecca Dailey. The Maid and Matron of Honor were Lindsey Combs and Brooke Klutts respectively. Dresses were unique to the wearer, all in different styles, but matched in color, a rich wine. The ladies wore boots, matching the Country, Rustic theme of the wedding. Emery and Elli Pool, daughters of Bridesmaid Heather, were Flower Girls in matching white dresses, both wearing boots too.
Groomsmen were Jordan Combs, Cameron Combs, Joey Simmons, Chris Dailey. The Best Man was Hayden Klutts. The men wore blue jeans, matching gray vests, and boots. Ties matched the rich wine of the bridesmaids' dresses. Brantley Tidwell, son of the groom, and Jayden Klutts, son of the Matron of Honor and Best Man were Ring Bearers in matching white shirts, blue jeans, and boots. Groom Matthew Tidwell wore an off-white vest and tie from Haddad’s in Munford. Ushers were brothers and Groomsmen Jordan and Cameron Combs.
In keeping with tradition, the Bride used lace binding on her bouquet as her ‘something old.’ Brittany stuck with her hairstyling roots for her ‘something new’ using a new hairpiece to complete this part of the tradition. The “something borrowed’ was a diamond bracelet from her grandmother. Her ‘something blue’ could be found on her boots. The Bride was a vision in her ivory David’s Bridal strapless, trumpet dress. The look was made complete by Jessica Carnett from The Hair Parlor who also did the hair of the Maid of Honor, and the Mother of the Bride. The Bride’s make-up was applied by Kaitynne Channing Rieman.
During the ceremony, vows were read to each other by the Bride and Groom. Instead of a unity candle, they had a cross tied into a knot based on the Bible verse Ecclesiastes 4:12, which reads:
“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” (NIV)
The flower arch the Bride and Groom stood under with Pastor Temke was made by the Mother of the Bride, Bonnie Woodard, and Rene Glover. Brittany’s bouquet was also made by the Mother of the Bride using victorianesque silk flowers.
Following the ceremony, friends and family celebrated the new union at the reception. Farm to Table catered the reception. The country-rustic theme continued with barbeque as the main course along with a baked potato bar. The wedding cake was white, three-tier, and had white chocolate raspberry inside. It was decorated with roses, eucalyptus leaves, and lacy fabric. The groom's cake was hunter themed with deer antlers and shotgun shells. Both cakes were made by Pam Sanders. Fairy lights hung from the rafters of the reception venue as did green ivy. Tables held flower arrangements composed by Rene Glover. The matching white chairs were from Party Concepts.
During the reception, DJ Mikey handled the music. For the first dance, the Bride and Groom danced to “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait. The Father Daughter dance was to the song What a Wonderful World by Sam Cooke (and Herb Alpert) and the Mother-Son dance was to “A Mother’s Prayer” by Andrew Sterling.
To help celebrate the new union, friends and family threw Brittany a Bridal Shower. Hosted by her cousin Lindsey Combs at Combs and Company Salon and Spa, the “Steel Magnolia” style party was a big hit among friends and family alike. The armadillo cake was true to form and talked about for months afterward.
Brittany and Matthew met in 2017 through the help of Brooke and Hayden Klutts, Brooke mentioned Matthew to Brittany who then sent Matthew a friend request on Facebook. Before their first date, Matt sent Brittany flowers. As it were, Matt had been to Brittany’s house before and her church. To quote Brittany, “Them meetings was God’s timing.” Within three days of knowing each other, Matt asked Brittany to be his and four months late to be his wife. He had the police pull her over for a busted taillight, but instead of a ticket, she got popped the question.
The couple honeymooned in Cabo San Lucus, Mexico. Photographers for the big day were Jami Dennington and Hannah Sherrill and Videographers were Tabitha Landrum and Aubrey Berryman. Matthew Tidwell is a Machinist at Marvin Windows. Brittany Combs-Tidwell is the Owner/Hairstylist at Combs and Company in Atoka, TN.
