Christmas Details!

Details! There are many beautiful places in the world, but the memorable ones are the ones that make the details shine.  Millie Greene makes sure the details shine in her shop at the beautiful old home that sits on Wayne Road in Savannah, Tennessee.  Greene moved Greene’s Fine Antiques and Interior Designs into the home over two decades ago, after her shop burned on Main Street.

The home has been renovated to fit the store, but for the most part, Greene kept the store as true to its original design as possible.  The home was built by RH ‘Mack’ McAnally and his wife, Sarah. Mr. McAnally was killed trying to save the life of someone else in a water accident just as the construction was beginning.  His wife supervised the construction by Douglas Blount. According to an article in the Courier, her niece, Judy Flannagan, said that her Aunt was “one of the great ladies in my life.” She added, “I liken her to Barbara Stanwyck's character in ‘The Big Valley’, the way she carried herself - she was the matriarch of our family.”  The stately home has retained its glory and welcomes visitors with joy.

Greene loves the home and believes ‘Miss Sarah’ would approve of the way she is using her home.  Greene uses the items available for purchase to decorate the rooms as you would use them in your home, making it a beautiful, relaxing place to shop with a delicious smell from the extensive selection of candles and home fragrances.  She carries high-end to middle-end furniture lines to order, like Henredon and Henkel Harris, upholstery fabrics by Michael Thomas, will find you antiques to order, fine and casual china, stemware and flatware, with a huge bridal registry of all the major lines much like Babcock’s in Memphis, linens, and decorative items, plus jewelry, purses, and clothing.  She brings the hard-to-shop-for-people in your life something wonderful as a gift, and lots of wonderful items for you to take home to make your home alive with details! With her interior design work, she never has to leave her shop, a giant workroom in the back accommodates her work for her clients, with Shaw flooring and her own lighting, it is all under one roof!

“I’m a people person, and I love being around people that appreciate life and the wonderful things it has to offer,” Greene continued, “I love my clients and customers.  They keep coming back and once people see what we have created for one customer, they either are referred or self-refer to see what we can create together for their home!”

On our visit, she had made fudge in the working kitchen and sent us home with some delightful peanut butter fudge, and chocolate nut fudge that made our mouths water!  “Miss Millie” Greene is truly a one-of-a-kind Lady, just like the wonderful spaces in her shop that she creates to help you make wonderful memories with your family and friends.
