Where the Wild Thing's Are Birthday
Sing with us! “Hey I heard you were a wild one, wild one, wild one...Ooooohooo!” These lyrics are to Jace McKinley Coulston’s favorite song Wild Ones by Flo Rida. Any and every time this song would play it would bring a smile to Jace’s face and put a little pep in his step! That means it was only fitting to throw this boy a WILD 1st birthday party! Parents Scott and J.R. Coulston threw their boy a Where the Wild Things Are themed birthday party; Jace and his most beloved family and friends celebrated his first year of life on August 4th, 2018 at Liberty Hall Event Center. Among those celebrating were Jace’s grandparents Bevi and Grumpy, and Grandy, and Jace’s great grandfather Granddaddy Andy.
The kids had a blast as well as the adults! Crowns were worn, rumpus was made, and the food was terrific! Jace’s grandmother Bevi made the cake and cookies by hand, and they were a hit! Alongside the wild punch and fruit tray, the food spread was a meal fit for rumpus makers! Tree trunk slices of wood decorated with scenes from Where the Wild Things Are were placed on tables throughout the room, as well as personalized color pages with bark covered coloring pencils. Guests signed a guestbook with quotes from the Wild Things story to write Jace a special note that he will be able to read for years to come!
A variety of temporary tattoos were available designed with characters from the story and quotes like “rumpus makers,” for the kids (and some adults) to place on their hands and arms! What is special about this is that when Jace was being born, temporary tattoos with Jace’s name on them were passed around the waiting room of the hospital as his family and friends anticipated his arrival. “It seems like the temporary tattoos are becoming a tradition for us!” says J.R.
As party favors Jace gave candy bars with the Wild Things quote to all of the guests! And Jace’s big party favors, or gifts, consisted of a Lifetime Sportsman License and tickets to see Sesame Street Live!
Everyone had a great time! J.R. and Scott enjoyed seeing all of the family and friends that came out to celebrate and support Jace! However, Jace’s favorite part had to be making a mess with the smash cake! I think everyone there had a piece of cake in their hair at the end! Jace, AKA King of The Wild Things… from all of us here at Cypress, keep dancing buddy!
