The 12 Goodies of Christmas: Hungarian Cookies

Christmas is a magical time of year. It’s the time we look forward to spending time with family, giving Christmas presents, sending cards, and it’s that one time of year where we open our hearts and warm our spirits with goodwill toward others. But let’s be honest — the best part of Christmas is the food: cookies, cakes, fudge, hard candy, soft candy, gingerbread, eggnog, and a million other goodies that are dangerously irresistible. It’s Christmas, so the calories don’t count until the new year anyway. Cypress has gathered 12 recipes of sweets and treats to share with you — and don’t worry, we tested them out too. Try out a recipe or two and let us know how your goodies turned out. Have a recipe of your own? Share it with us! We’d love to try it!

Ingredients:

2 (3 ounce) packages cream cheese

2 sticks margarine or butter

2 cups plain flour

jam or preserve of your choice

powdered sugar

granulated sugar

Directions:

Mix together the cream cheese, margarine, and flour and let the dough chill overnight. On a surface dusted with powdered sugar, roll out the dough until it is about the thickness of a pie crust. Cut with a pastry cutter into 2-inch squares. Dollop small amounts of preserves (about a ¼ teaspoon) in the center of each square. Pinch two corners together and tightly roll in the granulated sugar. Bake for 10 minutes at 325℉.
