3 Easy Snack Ideas for Kids
One of the most difficult tasks for mothers everywhere is preparing snacks for their kids. Often, parents find that they run out of snack options or ideas and find themselves in a sort of cooking block. Here are three snack ideas that will excite your kids and make after school fun!
Carrot Fries
Estimated Preparation Time: 35 Minutes
Serving Size: about 4
Ingredients:
1 pound carrots
sprinkle of salt and pepper
sprinkle of paprika
1 teaspoon olive oil
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Wash carrots and skin them if desired.
Cut each carrot into long strips using a knife. Then, cut off the ends of the long pieces.
Take large baking sheet and spread olive oil onto the surface. Parchment paper is recommended.
Place carrots onto baking pan and spread them out.
Sprinkle salt, pepper, and paprika onto carrots.
Cook for about 15-20 minutes, flipping the carrots halfway.
Let cool for 5 minutes.
Once done, remove from oven and add more seasoning if desired.
Apple Crisps
Estimated Preparation Time: about 60 Minutes
Serving Size: 4
Ingredients:
butter
3 apples
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon sugar
Directions:
Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
Take apples and remove core. Then, cut them into very thin slices. Sizes are based on preference.
Mix sugar and ground cinnamon together in a bowl.
Take baking sheet and butter it generously.
Spread apple slices onto the baking sheet and sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon mixture on each side of the slices.
Bake for 25 minutes. Then, flip each apple slice over and cook for another 25 minutes.
Once done, check to see if all the crisps are evenly cooked. If not, put the less cooked slices in the oven for a couple more minutes.
Let cool for 5 minutes and serve.
Greek Yogurt Fruit Bark
Estimated Preparation Time: about 10 minutes
Serving Size: 4
Ingredients:
1 ½ cup vanilla greek yogurt (any brand based on preference)
½ cup raspberries
½ cup blueberries
Directions:
Place parchment paper on a medium sized baking sheet.
Spread the greek yogurt in a thin layer onto the parchment paper.
Once spread, add raspberries and blueberries by placing them randomly throughout the yogurt spread.
Place baking sheet in freezer and let sit till frozen through.
Once frozen, lift the bark off of the parchment paper and break into large pieces.
Serve and put any leftovers in the fridge to keep fresh.
