Miss Tennessee Volunteer Preliminary Winners June 20th

Congratulations to Miss McNairy County and Miss Rhythm and Blues who were announced as preliminary winners for the second night of the Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant.

Miss McNairy County, Kara Smith, won the lifestyle and fitness categories of the competition. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew (Kathy) Smith. When asked how she felt about the win last night she excitedly told us, “I am so overwhelmed. I have competed in over twenty preliminaries and this is my first year to be able to compete on the Miss Tennessee (Volunteer) stage. To be able to win a swimsuit prelim, much less any prelim, is definitely an honor I take pride in.” She is currently studying Pre-Dentistry at the University of Memphis and plans to obtain her masters to become a pediatric dental hygienist.

Miss Rhythm and Blues, DeLaney Timberman, was stunning when singing “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” for the talent portion of last night’s competition. She is the daughter of Mrs. Chastity and the late Mr. Bill Timberman. DeLaney was over the moon at her preliminary win, “This is such an incredible blessing. It’s sweet to have this moment on the Miss Tennessee Volunteer stage. There’s really no feeling quite like it and it’s just such an honor to be able to perform with a live orchestra like this.” DeLaney is a senior at the University of Memphis studying Public Relations and Political Science. She plans to become a certified Chamber Executive and Economic Developer.

These young ladies are the second set of preliminary winners of the Miss Tennessee Volunteer Scholarship pageant. Tonight, June 21st, will round out the preliminary competition and the winner will be crowned on Saturday!

Cypress will post updates as the Pageant progresses on our blog and on the story section on Facebook and Instagram.
