5 Things You Can Do For Father's Day

Fathers are one of a kind and they should be celebrated every day. It’s no wonder that they have their own holiday, but figuring out how to spend it can be stressful. Either you don’t know what to do, you can’t decide, or you want to do more than get a card, it’s always good to have a few ideas to keep in mind when planning his day.

If you grew up in the South, one of the best things you can do for Father’s Day is taking him fishing, hunting, or something southern folk enjoy. If Father’s Day is muggy and the weather isn’t great, you could take your dad to Bass Pro, or a similar store, and let him shop his heart out. Give him the opportunity to buy the fishing pole he’s wanted for years, a new gun, or a new boat. Even if they don’t admit it, dads are always happy when they get to spoil themselves.

Yes, they love buying themselves things once in a while, but they also love a good game. Whether it’s baseball, football, soccer, hockey, golf, etc. They never turn down a good competition. On Father’s Day, you could take them out to see their favorite team play, or you could play a family game at the local field or in your backyard. This is a great way to get your dad hungry for a big family dinner.

If your Dad is a sucker for racing, then doing that is a great idea for Father’s Day. You could take him and the whole family to the local drag strip, or you could race Go-Karts at your local Go-Kart track. If you choose to race though, make sure you give your big man a head start since it is his big day! Just like sports, this is a great way to prepare your dad for a big family dinner the family has prepared.

If your dad prefers staying in than going out, you can do just that. He won’t turn down a day on the couch with the remote in one hand, and a beer or sweet tea in the other. Spending much-needed family time with their kids is always important to dads, and after a long week of working, it’s perfectly okay to let them do that on Father’s Day.

One thing that is great about dads is they can never eat too much. Like sports, they’ll never say no to a good meal. For Father’s Day, you could take them to their favorite restaurant, or you could cook a big meal at home and keep it intimate. Either way, they’ll be happy to eat with you and the family!
