Baked Fudge Pudding

Baked Fudge Pudding

Ingredients

Batter

1 cup flour, sifted

½ cup sugar

2 Tablespoons ground chocolate or cocoa

2 teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

¾ cup walnuts or pecans, chopped

½ cup milk

2 Tablespoons shortening or butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla

Topping

¾ cup brown sugar

¼ cup ground chocolate or cocoa

1 ¾ cup hot water

Few grains salt

Whipped cream or ice cream (Optional)

Directions:

Sift together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder and salt into a medium mixing bowl.  Add nuts, then stir in milk, butter or shortening and vanilla. Spread batter in 8-inch square pan, or shallow baking dish.  Mix cocoa and brown sugar; stir in water and dash of salt; pour over batter. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream or ice cream.  Serves 6
