It's Time for Spring Cleaning!
Spring has finally Sprung in the Mid-South and we know you’re just as excited as we are to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather and gorgeous Spring flowers! It’s important to take time now to address Spring Cleaning chores so as not to infringe upon your Summer Fun. We’ve compiled a checklist of sorts for you to consider when tackling clutter and dust that may have accumulated over the Winter. So put on a motivating playlist, throw open the windows and let’s get to work!
Overall Cleaning
Clean cobwebs off moldings, ceiling corners, and walls.
Dust off and wipe lamps, lighting fixtures, and ceiling fans.
Dust off mirrors and other wall hangings.
Wipe and polish doors inside and out - clean handles from fingermarks, smears and dirt.
Clean up/touch-up paint on any wall spots and smudges.
Wipe and polish your windows’ glass, both inside and out.
Wash all curtains and dust-wipe your blinds.
Dust-off your furnishing - bookcases, shelving, cupboards, drawers etc.
Wipe and vacuum upholstery - cushions, and underneath.
Remove upholstery stains - DIY or via professional cleaners.
Wash and wipe hardwood, tiles, linoleum and carpet flooring.
Shake out and vacuum any mats, rugs, and carpets. Clean flooring beneath.
Consider renting a carpet shampooer or book an appointment for a professional to take care of it.
Wipe dust and dirt off air vents and fans - a germ hot spot.
Wash or replace AC and furnace filters.
Test your smoke/carbon monoxide detector (VERY IMPORTANT)
Dust off baseboards and take the time to address any stains or marks on them.
In the kitchen
Clean and disinfect your coffee machine.
Tidy beneath your kitchen sink.
Clean and degrease your oven interior and exterior.
Defrost your refrigerator. Clean up grime, mildew and dispose of unwanted food deposits.
Replace the refrigerator water filter yourself or ask for qualified help.
Clean dishwasher inside and out, including rubber edging. (Vinegar works well for this!)
Disinfect door handles, lighting fixtures and pulls.
In the bathroom
Start by emptying the shower, cabinets, and countertop.
Launder the shower curtain or consider replacing.
Descale shower and faucet heads
In the Bedroom
Launder curtains and blinds.
Launder bed linens and mattress covers.
Dust off skirting boards and decorations.
Go through all clothes, store winter clothes and donate anything not worn in one year.
In the dining room: wipe down dining chairs and table legs.
Sanitize any kids toys (good to do more than just in Spring)
