Our Favorite Iconic Halloween Movies

Halloween wouldn't feel like Halloween if it weren't for the countless spooky movies that play on nearly every channel during the month of October. While there are so many to choose from that we couldn't possibly include everyone's favorite in this list, here are some of the best and most fondly regarded spooktacular movies.

1. Hocus Pocus

This 1993 hit, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, and Bette Midler as witches, is a staple for the Halloween season!

2. The Nightmare Before Christmas

This 1990's animated film explores the story of Jack Skellington, the mayor who is trying to bring Christmas to Halloweentown!

3. It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

This childhood classic is sure to bring feelings of nostalgia to homes everywhere this Halloween.

4. Ghostbusters

We couldn't not include Ghostbusters on this list! This hit supernatural comedy film is perfect for the Halloween season.

5. Halloweentown

This endearing 1998 film tells the story of a young girl saving her town from a myriad of supernatural and creepy creatures.

6. Beetlejuice

This 1988 Tim Burton film is an entertaining twist on your typical Halloween movie - it tells the story of a ghost couple trying to get pesky humans out of their home!

7. Corpse Bride - Yet another Tim Burton mention (maybe he should be named the King of Halloween movies), this 2005 animated film is an enthralling musical and story all in one.

8. The Shining

Stanley Kubrick's 1980 classic horror film is definitely more scary than most others on this list! Maybe don't watch this one with your little ones.

9. The Addams Family

This 1991 movie based on the 1960's hit series, this is a classic Halloween film that is more funny than scary.

10. The Sixth Sense

"I see dead people" is now a popular saying thanks to this famous M. night Shyamalan film. Similar to The Shining, this is a great pick for those interested in more psychological thrillers.
